Sandboarding & Sunset Experience Essaouira — Dunes, Waterfall & Cave Dinner from €20
This is Not a Tour. This is Not a Package. This is an Experience That Will Stay With You Long After You Leave Morocco.
Every sandboarding operator in Essaouira gives you a board and takes you home. We do something completely different. We are Mouhssin and Yassine — twin brothers born on this coastline, raised on these dunes, connected to the fishermen of this shore our entire lives. Nobody else can take you where we take you. Nobody else can give you what happens here.
Golden sand dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean. A hidden waterfall flows through ancient coastal rock. A secret fisherman’s cave holds a fire, fresh fish and the warmth of real Moroccan hospitality. This is one afternoon. From €20 per person.
A Landscape That Exists Nowhere Else on Earth
Imagine standing on a golden dune where the Atlantic Ocean fills the entire horizon. Below, a hidden waterfall flows through ancient rock. Above, the Moroccan sky turns fire red and copper gold as the sun descends. This is a real place. It is 25 minutes from Essaouira. Almost nobody knows it exists. We do — because we grew up here.
Your Afternoon — Step by Step
15:00 — We Come to You
We pick you up directly from your accommodation in Essaouira. No taxi to find, no directions, no stress. We drive south along the Atlantic coast towards a landscape most visitors to Morocco will never see. Transport is included in the price.
The Hidden Waterfall — Your First Secret
We arrive at a place that is not in any guidebook, not on any tourist map, not promoted by any other operator in Essaouira. A hidden waterfall, surrounded by cliffs, dunes and ocean, where the only sound is water and Atlantic wind. We explore together. We photograph together. Your guide — born in Essaouira, raised on this coast — shares the stories behind this land that only locals carry. This moment alone is worth the journey.
Sandboarding — Ride the Atlantic Dunes
Then we climb. The dunes here face the Atlantic directly — which means when you reach the top and look out, there is nothing between you and the horizon but golden sand and blue ocean. We strap you in, show you everything you need to know in five minutes, and then you go.
The feeling of sliding down a Moroccan dune with the Atlantic Ocean below you is something no photograph fully captures. You have to feel it. Suitable for all ages from 6 years old. No experience necessary. All equipment provided.
The Sunset — Morocco’s Best Free Show
As the sandboarding finishes, the sky above Essaouira and Sidi Kaouki begins its transformation. Orange. Red. Gold. Purple. The dunes change colour. The ocean changes colour. Your camera will not stop. This is why we run this experience at 15:00. The afternoon light here is extraordinary. No filter needed.
Dinner in a Secret Fisherman’s Cave
This is where the evening becomes unforgettable. We take you to a cave by the Atlantic — a place used by local fishermen for generations. A tent is set up inside. A fire is lit. The sound of the ocean fills the space. Traditional Moroccan mint tea is poured from height in the old style, sweet and fragrant, while homemade cakes arrive fresh for your group.
Then dinner. Real dinner. Not a restaurant. A meal prepared that day, by hand, for your group only. Choose from:
🐟 Fresh fish barbecue with salad and fries — caught that morning by local fishermen
🍗 Chicken tagine — slow cooked with Moroccan spices
🥩 Lamb tagine — rich, tender and deeply flavourful
🥦 Vegetarian tagine — seasonal vegetables with traditional Moroccan spices
All meals are prepared fresh and served in a relaxed, authentic setting by the ocean. This is the Morocco that most visitors never reach.
Pricing — Simple and Transparent
Sandboarding Only — from €20 per person
Pickup at 15:00. Waterfall hike. Sandboarding on the dunes. Sunset over the Atlantic. Max 8 people. All equipment included.
Full Experience: Sandboarding + Dinner — from €30 per person
Everything above plus the fisherman’s cave dinner, fresh fish BBQ or tagine, Moroccan mint
Sidi Kaouki vs Essaouira Beach: Your Surfing Questions Answered
Sidi Kaouki is generally better for surfing, with longer, cleaner, and more consistent waves thanks to direct Atlantic swells. Essaouira Beach is more sheltered, offering smaller waves that are ideal for beginners but often affected by wind.
Both spots are suitable for beginners, depending on conditions. Essaouira Beach is perfect for your first lesson with smaller, softer waves. Sidi Kaouki is also beginner-friendly, with a sandy bottom and multiple surf peaks that allow instructors to find the best waves for your level.
The best time for surfing is from September to April, when Atlantic swells are more consistent. During summer, Essaouira becomes very windy, which is great for kitesurfing but less ideal for surfing. Sidi Kaouki often still offers good surf conditions even when Essaouira is windy.
Most surfers choose to stay in Essaouira and surf in Sidi Kaouki. Essaouira offers more accommodation, restaurants, and cultural experiences, while Sidi Kaouki provides better and more consistent surf conditions. Many surf schools offer day trips between the two.
